Decades of frustration: Is this Ghana’s time at AFCON 2017?

It goes without saying that Ghana have waited a long time to get their hands on the coveted AFCON title. The last time the Black Stars tasted victory in Africa s premier national competition was back in 1982. Before Twitter. Or Facebook. Or Youtube, iPods, laptops, flat-screen TVs, cellphones, or evne before the internet became common place. And it was also before quite a few of Ghana s current players were even born.

In terms of AFCON prestige, Ghana are definitely up there alongside Africa s most decorated sides. With four titles, they are only behind Egypt s seven and are tied with Cameroon. The sole time the Black Stars have successfu…

Duggan to leave Everton after second spell at club

Everton have announced that Toni Duggan will leave the club when her contract expires at the end of this month.

The forward is departing after her second spell at the club, having started her career at Everton in 2007-08 before rejoining in July 2021.

She appeared in all but one of Everton s matches during her return season but missed the entirety of the second after going on maternity leave, but returned to action last October.

The 32-year-old initially broke into the first team at 16 years old and scored an extra-time winner against Watford to send Everton into the Premier League Cup final.

In her first spell, she was named FA Women’s Young Player of the Year in 2009 and went on to lift the FA Women s Cup the following year.

CAF picks Adebayor Africa´s best player for 2008

=(Picture)=The Confederation of African Football (CAF) picked Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor as the continent s best player for 2008 at an elaborate awards ceremony here Tuesday night.

Adebayor, 25 later this month, beat final nominees Mohamed Aboutrika of Egypt and Ghana s Michael Essien in a vote that involved the national team coaches of CAF s 54 member-nations.

The Arsenal star, accompanied by his mother, took home a crystal trophy and a cash prize of 20,000 US dollars.

It was the first time a Togolese took the accolade as Africa s best player.

This is a special night for me. I dedicate this award to my mum, without her, I would have been nothing. My father is no more but wherever he is, he will be proud of me, said Adebayor.

Busy final day makes 2018-19 most prolific Premier League season

A flurry of goals on the final day saw the 2018-19 Premier League season set a record.

There were more goals in 2018-19 than in any other 38-game campaign in the competition s history, the previous mark being overtaken on an eventful Sunday that saw 10 fixtures played.

Pep Guardiola s Manchester City scored four at Brighton and Hove Albion to take the Premier League title, netting 95 times in the process.

Liverpool fell just short of top spot and were also second in terms of goals on 89, though forwards Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane each earned a share of the Golden Boot. They finished on 22 goals apiece, the same number as Arsenal s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

It was Tottenham s Christian Eriksen who hit the record-breaking 1,067th goal, though ther…

Sneijder still haunted by 2010 final

Wesley Sneijder said he is still haunted by the Netherlands loss to Spain four years ago ahead of their Group B opener on Friday.

The Netherlands, then coached by Bert van Marwijk, were beaten 1-0 in the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa, with Andres Iniesta settling the match four minutes from the end in extra time.

Now led by Dutchman Louis van Gaal, the Netherlands have the chance to exact some revenge against the defending champions when the two teams meet at the Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.

That s really the low point of my career, the 30-year-old Galatasaray midfielder said. I had to walk past the cup but could not hold it. It felt very sour. That will always be my rock bottom.

We were so close to penalties and the game was still there, just th…

Matthew Stafford Odds and MNF Props: Rams QB Airs It Out in Cincinnati

Our second game of Monday Night Football in Week 3 will take us to Cincinnati, where the Bengals will aim for their first win of the season and likely be without starting quarterback Joe Burrow.

On the other side, the Los Angeles Rams will look to pick up the pieces after a tough Week 2 loss against the San Francisco 49ers, where Matthew Stafford impressed for a second straight week.

What will Stafford have for us tonight? Let’s break his MNF odds down below.

Don’t forget to look at our full-game Rams vs. Bengals predictions, as well as our MNF props column.

Falcons vs 49ers Week 15 Picks and Predictions: A San Francisco Success Story

Both the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers have hopes of making the playoffs and Sunday’s game will go a long way to deciding their respective fates this season. The 49ers have been on a roll recently and are in pursuit of the Cardinals and Rams in the NFC West.

Meanwhile, the Falcons can’t catch the Bucs in the division but a wild-card spot isn’t out of the question. Don’t miss your NFL betting picks and predictions for the Falcons vs. 49ers.

Rams vs Buccaneers Week 9 Props: Robinson's Role Continues to Grow

In a rematch of last year’s divisional round thriller, and a meeting of two brutally underwhelming teams, the L.A. Rams make the trip across the country to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 9.

L.A. is fresh off its latest beatdown at the hands of the 49ers and looked every bit a desperate team to close last week, with Cooper Kupp & Co. still playing amid an uncompetitive blowout. Tampa, meanwhile, remained lost in the NFL wilderness on TNF a week ago, falling to Baltimore in a fairly sad fashion.

Despite the flailing nature of both teams, the stage is set for this to be a highly compelling game. We’ve got you covered with our best NFL prop picks, and check out our Rams vs. Buccaneers picks and predictions for more.

The Cincinnati Bengals will look to start the 2024 season on the right foot after finishing in the basement of the AFC North last year. No. 1 quarterback Joe Burrow is healthy, and the Bengals are the largest favorite on the docket in Week 1 at home against the new-look New England Patriots.

Find out why one of Cincy’s new leading running backs headlines our Bengals vs. Patriots predictions and NFL picks for Sunday’s season opener at Paycor Stadium.

It’s another  “epic” Thursday night battle that might only be made better by betting as Easton Stick makes his first NFL start at Allegiant Stadium. He’ll lead the Los Angeles Chargers into TNF odds as 3-point road dogs vs. Aidan O’Connell and the Las Vegas Raiders.

Coming off a four-week high in route share and sitting with his lowest receiving-yard total since early October, should bettors be looking at Michael Mayer’s receiving NFL odds, especially with his opportunities?
